Alpha Projects Transitions to Employee Ownership

Ownership Associates UK is delighted to congratulate Alpha Projects on its transition to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

December 9, 2025

This marks an exciting new chapter for the business and securing its long-term future.

Alpha Projects, a leading construction, fit out and refurbishment specialist based in north-east of Scotland, made the decision to move to employee ownership in order to recognise the contribution of its loyal workforce and ensure stability for the years ahead. The move reflects the company’s belief that shared ownership strengthens culture, safeguards values, and rewards the people who drive the business every day.

As part of the transition, three employee representatives — Jordan Reid, Scott McFarlane and Lesley Reid — have been appointed to the newly formed Trust Board, giving the workforce a meaningful voice in the stewardship of the company. Their role will be to work alongside the independent trustee and company directors to ensure Alpha Projects is run in the long-term interests of its employees.

Importantly, day-to-day operations remain unchanged.  Directors Kevin Brown and Paul Cortese will continue to lead the trading company, maintaining business continuity and ensuring the same high standard of service for clients.

Accountancy firm EQ provided valuation and tax advice on the transaction. Dougy Agnew, Tax Partner, said:
“We are delighted to have supported Alpha Projects on their journey to an EOT. The company has a strong, committed workforce, and this move recognises that loyalty while securing the future of the business. We look forward to seeing Alpha Projects continue to thrive under the EOT structure.”

Gilson Gray provided the legal advice. Partner, Craig Darling said, “The shareholders were keen to find an ownership model that protected the success of the company for the long term, and rewarded the team for their loyalty over the years.  The EOT delivers that for Alpha Projects, and it’s good to hear how well the news landed with clients

The move to an EOT will ensure Alpha Projects’ continued support into the local areas in which they operate. As well as sponsoring Forfar FC and Dundee FC, the company also support a number of local charity events.

The transition positions Alpha Projects among a growing number of construction and professional services firms choosing employee ownership as a way to protect their independence, empower their people and build long-term resilience.

Congratulations to everyone at Alpha Projects on this significant milestone.
